Healthy food doesn't have to be expensive. Get the most bang for your buck by trying out these awesome recipes. Each recipe yields four to six servings, meaning you can feed a family or meal prep for yourself for the week.  Banana Walnut Oatmeal: 4 servings. Cost per serving: $0.53 · 2/3 cups milk (non-fat or nut) · 2 cups water · 2 cups oats (old fashioned rolled oats) · 2 bananas (very ripe, mashed) · 2 tablespoons real maple syrup · 2 tablespoons walnuts (chopped) Instructions: In a small saucepan, combine milk and water. Heat over medium heat until hot, but not boiling. Add oats and cook, stirring until creamy, 1 to 2 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in mashed banana and maple syrup. .


Divide between 4 bowls, garnish with walnuts. Crunchy Chicken Salad: 5 Servings. Cost per serving: $0.73 · 2 cups cooked chicken (chunked) · ½ cup celery · ¼ cup green pepper · ¼ onion · ½ cucumber · 1 apple (small, diced, leave peel on) · ¼ cup yogurt, plain (non-fat or Greek) Instructions: Use leftover or cook enough to make 2 cups of chicken pieces. Chop celery, green pepper, onion, cucumber and apple into small pieces. Cut the grapes in half. Put all ingredients in a large bowl. .
